Domaine Castagnier, Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru 2022

Vineyard planted in 1954. This parcel is right next to Domaine Hubert Lignier’s parcel of Charmes-Chambertin. A rich deep darker crimson. A slightly gamey reduction, reflecting a long slow malolactic here. Fresh raspberry and redcurrant behind, building in energy very well on the second half of the palate. Still a little firm at the finish, but with some promise. Drink from 2032-2040. Tasted in December 2023 by Jasper Morris.
